DISCOVER GAMES FULL OF WONDERS IN ARCANE WONDERS

Discover Games Full of Wonders at Arcane Wonders

Arcane Wonders is coming to Spiel! Come visit us in Hall 2 (2E120) for an early look at our upcoming releases World Wonders and Age of Wonders: Planetfall, as well as our new releases Neotopia, Furnace: Interbellumand GAP! We will also be running limited demos of Call of Duty: The Board Game.

World Wonders enjoyed a sell-out early release at Gen Con this year and we didn’t want our fans in Essen to miss out before the game arrives in retail in November. There will only be 400 copies available at the show, so we encourage you to come by our booth early!

In World Wonders you will take on the role of a great leader from the past to build an Ancient City. Each turn you will spend gold to purchase roads and buildings to add to your city board. Each of the five building types provides resources, which will in turn attract a larger population to live in your city.

The buildings you can purchase each round are limited to one of each type, and once a building has been purchased that shape will not be available again until the next round. If you want to make sure you get the best options, you can spend a gold to claim first or second in player order for the next round. If you’re short on gold, you can take out a loan of 2 gold, but this will need to be repaid with interest later, or you will lose 2 victory points at the end of the game.

When you have met certain requirements, you will be able to build monuments known as Wonders! There are 21 Wonders in the game, including The Colosseum, Chichén Itzá, and The Great Wall of China, each lovingly recreated in the form of wooden miniatures. These will be placed on your city board following the placement rules on the Monument card. Some Monuments will provide immediate bonus resources, and they will all provide at least one ring (end game Victory Points).

Speaking of end game scoring, you will also score a number of Victory Points equal to the value reached on the lowest of your three resource tracks. So, it is in your best interests to balance your growth on these tracks during the game.

The game ends when any player reaches the final space on their Population track, or after completing ten rounds (whichever comes first). Earn Victory Points for rings on your board and Monument cards, your least-produced resource, Natural Resources connected to your buildings on your city board, and City Districts (buildings that are surrounded). Lose 2 Victory Points if you have an unpaid loan.
